Alberico Gentile, 82 passed away peacefully Saturday, January 30, 2010 at his home in Halifax, MA after a lengthy illness. Born in Halifax, MA, he and Elda Petrino were married on April 15, 1950. Prior to his marriage, he served in the Army. He retired in 1993 after a long career as a businessman and politician. He was the owner of Gentile's Supermarket, worked for the State of Massachusetts and held various positions for the Town of Halifax, including Town Selectman for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elda Petrino, daughters Grace Gentile and Angela Gentile, son and daughter-in-law Al and Kim Gentile, daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Mike Tiano and our beloved friend, Jean Ptaszynski. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours in Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan St., at the corner of Rte 14 & 58 in HANSON on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 580 Monponsett St, Rte 58 in Halifax. Interment in Central Cemetery in Halifax.
